Christmas Cottage Adventure

by nicole

On boxing day we packed up and drove north to a cottage near Tobermory.  We are here with Popa, Nana, Auntie Sheri, Uncle Robbie, Aunt Tara and Geoffie and of course Fisher.  We arrived after dark so we didn’t get to see much on the first day, just had some dinner and got Geoffie’s new video game system set up.  On the second day we had a nice slow morning, we went into Tobermory to have a look around.  Everything is closed except the grocery store and the liquor store.  There were some men unloading white fish, which is pretty amazing considering how cold it is that they are still fishing.  There were lots of ducks in the harbour that Greyson enjoyed watching.  Then we went out to the lighthouse, it was beautiful with ice built up on the rocks and plants.  There was a beautiful sunset and everyone climbed up to the observation deck on the roof of the house to get an amazing view.  On the third day we went out hiking.  We are pretty close to Lake Huron so we hiked there, it was pretty windy so there were some huge waves!  Auntie Sheri and Uncle Robbie tried to start a fire, but it wasn’t ment to be – they’ll get it to work tonight.  Greyson has been practicing his walking a lot, he is comfortable walking along beside us now, just holding on to one hand.

First Christmas

by nicole

Greyson had a wonderful first Christmas.  It started Christmas Eve day at Nana D’s house with family dinner and gifts.  Greyson was very spoiled!  He enjoyed visiting with everyone and opening presents.  Christmas morning Greyon woke up to open up his stocking!  It was full of lots of good treats, new dishes and toys.  Then Greyson went downstairs to find his new kitchen!  He learned how to turn on the stove element right away and took the sink out (plumber or electrical engineer?).  He liked his fruit and veggies and was quickly grilling oranges on the stove!  Next stop was to Nana and Popa’s.  Greyson was spoiled again – you can see his huge wagon in the pictures!  He had another great dinner and was definitely ready for bed at the end of it all!

This is what happens when the adults get distracted for a second…

Pioneer Village

by nicole

We went to a Pioneer Village yesterday with Nana, Popa, Auntie Sheri, Aunt Tara, Great Auntie Judy and Carolyn.  We used to go there all the time when we were small, so it was fun to see it again.  It was pretty chilly, Popa had Greyson in his fancy stroller with the new bag for warmth, but he decided partway through the visit he’d rather go in the ergo carrier so that’s what we did.  Greyson was able to pet the horses used for the wagon ride, I was amazed by how brave he was!  Maybe a little too brave since he tried to pinch the horse’s nose too!  Photo credits go to Aunt Tara AND this is the 200th post!

Christmas with Great Grandma and Family

by nicole

On Sunday Great Grandma, Great Auntie Judy, Great Uncle Harvey, Carolyn, Great Auntie Theresa, Great Uncle Dave, Valerie and Andrew came out to celebrate Christmas with Greyson.  We had a great visit and the family from Alberta were able to get all caught up with Greyson.  He enjoyed opening a few more gifts, he liked his new clothes and playing with his new farm.

Christmas with Nanny and Grandad

by nicole

Greyson had his first Christmas celebration on Saturday (and it was also his 10 month birthday!).  We went to see Nanny at the nursing home and Popa made a great meal for all of us.  Greyson got to meet some cousins he hadn’t met before, he really enjoyed playing with the boys.  Here are a few pictures including Greyson opening his very first Christmas present.

Hamming it up

by nicole

Greyson is finally back to his normal self today.  He’s eating like a champ and is being very goofy.  He kept himself entertained pulling his dishes out of a low drawer I’ve set up for him for over an hour.  He’s standing on his own all the time now, but isn’t taking too many more steps without a lot of encouragment (I wonder if his balance was off with his sore ear).  We did some finger painting today, it was very, very messy and toward the end he seemed pretty annoyed that I put him in his high chair and he didn’t get fed.

Feeling Better

by nicole

We haven’t had much to say lately since Greyson has an ear infection so we’ve been trying to keep him quiet and staying inside.  I’m starting to go a little stir crazy and I think he’s getting bored too… we aren’t keeping up with our normal social calendar!   But he needs to feel better by the weekend since we have some visiting to do!

A visit with Santa

by nicole

Greyson had a visit with Santa yesterday.  He’s not feeling really well right now so he wasn’t exactly full of smiles.  Here are a few pictures.

And he’s off!

by nicole

Tonight Greyson took his very first steps on his own.  He’s been standing balancing for a few days now and tonight he tried stepping on his own!  He took 2 or 3 steps a few times tonight!  Nana was over visiting so she was able to see it and Greyson waited for Daddy to get home too!  We tried to get a video of him walking, but everytime we tried he’d get spaghetti legs, so we’ll have to try again later :)  Here are a few pictures of him; the first is of the camera lens cap that was the motivation to walk (notice the soother, he thinks it’s cool to chew on them now, but you can tell he’s not a real soother baby since it’s upside down, that’s how he likes it), the second is of Greyson playing with the bins his toys are in (not the toys, always the bins) and finally of him looking pretty impressed with himself and Nana!
