Workshop

by nicole

After Greyson’s interest in building the bannister (which is complete today! Hooray Dada and Popa!) Justin bought Greyson a work bench.  It is pretty cool, the power tools all make sounds and move.  The nuts and bolts to put the bench together fit the tools, so it really was a building project for Justin and Greyson.  Who can tell what Greyson is doing in the first picture, hehehe?

A Day Out with Thomas

by nicole

We spent the afternoon visiting a favourite friend of Greyson’s – Thomas the Tank Engine!  It was TONS of fun!  We took a ride on Annie with Thomas as the engine.  There was a petting zoo, Sir Topham Hatt was there, we saw some performers, played with trains, played with bubbles and did some stamping!

Here are a few pictures.

Greyson is 17 months old

So this is the first time I’ve missed posting on Greyson’s month birthday so you know it’s been a crazy week.  Here are some pictures from the day, playing with a new toy, more on that later.

Hot Hot Hot

by nicole

This weekend was impossibly hot. We had two BBQ parties to attend. Greyson had fun visiting with his family on Saturday night.  Today we visited with some friends from university.  First, we had a good time at the splash pad today with Auntie Sheri.

Using Tools

Here is a video of Greyson playing yesterday morning.  He has started copying everything we do, here is a good example:

Train

by nicole

First there are a few pictures from the past weekend from Popa’s camera.  Greyson was given several gifts from Auntie Sheri and Uncle Robbie after their trip to New York.  He looked very grown up in his new hat and shoes so we got a few pictures!  Next are some pictures of Greyson big adventure today.  He took the train with Popa and Aunt Tara from Waterloo to St. Jacobs.  He LOVED it!!!

Wedding

by nicole

Greyson went to his first wedding this weekend.  Justin was in the wedding party so Greyson and I hung out at the back – where he could wander around or watch if he wanted (or play with the purse of the lady in front of us).  He wandered around mostly and said Dada every time he realized Justin was standing at the front of the crowd of people.  The good thing was that we were outside so no worries about him having enough room or having to sit still.  He didn’t make it to the reception, dinner was way too late for his schedule so he went to see his Aunties.  They had him to bed in no time at all and he had a great sleep!  This picture sort of shows his outfit (including a brand new baseball cap that Auntie Sheri and Uncle Robbie brought him back from New York!).

Can we build it?

by nicole

Our basement stairs have been a concern since Greyson was an embryo.  There is no handrail, wall or guard on the right side, just a steep drop to the basement.  This weekend Popa and Justin put up the handrail.  Greyson was VERY interested in the construction.  He was given his own tool and went around tightening up everything.  Here are a few pictures.

Splash pad

by nicole

We went back to the park today we were at yesterday.  It was lovely, no crowds!  We met up with Hedy and the twins, Cynthia, Charlotte and Jonah.  We went on the train and carousel, had a picnic and then went for a walk.  After that we came home for a much needed nap.  Refreshed we met Nana at a nearby splash pad.  Greyson was very brave going in all sorts of different activities.  I forgot to bring some toys, so Greyson had to use his wipes as a toy!

Into the mind of a toddler

by nicole

Greyson does funny things now, I’m sure they not funny to him at all, his brain is sorting out so many new things now it’s all important.  Here’s an example from Popa.  One day last week they went to the Re-Store together.  Popa loves the Re-Store – so Greyson does too.  They will just wander around and see what’s new.  Last time they were there Greyson was checking out some trim.  He found a piece of plastic quarter round and took it out of the pile (it’s a full length piece, not sure how long that is, but it’s long!).  Then he started walking to the front of the store with it, he wouldn’t let Popa help, he carried it the whole way on his own (it’s a big store).  He had to negotiate it around a few other things and got stuck, then figured his way out.  Popa paid for it (50 cents) and Greyson carried it all the way out to the car (also very far).  Popa put the trim in the car where Greyson could reach it – but Greyson wasn’t very happy that he wasn’t holding it anymore.  When they got back to our house, Greyson brought the trim into the house.  It’s in our living room now, sometimes he picks it up and carries it around.  We have no idea why… anyone have any thoughts?
